Much can be said of the great Charles Schulz, the writer of the Peanuts comic strip. He had a way with words and imagery that leaves a lasting impression on the reader. So in honor of Thanksgiving, I want to share with you my thoughts on Snoopy’s Thanksgiving Dinner. (You have to watch Charles Schulz’s Snoopy’s Thanksgiving episode!!)
There is so much to be said about jelly beans, pretzels, popcorn, and buttered toast being served for Thanksgiving! I love it! But here’s my thought….
Bring it to the table!! Snoopy did. Whatever you have to offer, bring it!
Bring your jelly beans; they are sweet.
Bring your pretzels; they are salty and crunchy.
Bring your buttered toast; it is warm and satisfying.
And bring your buttered popcorn; it’s everyone’s favorite!
My point is this: We all need each other’s diversity. We need the sweet, the salty, the warm, the favorite. NOT the expected and traditional and usual. If you haven’t figured it out, I am NOT talking about the food, I am talking about the offering. Bring it to the table!!
Lay down the preconceived ideas of others and simply bring what you have to offer to the table. It’s needed and will be enjoyed by all, well for some of us, by most.
I am quirky, out-spoken, and a bit weird, but as I age, I am finding that I don’t have to be any other way, but just the way God designed me to be.
So this Thanksgiving, show up with YOU! Offer YOU to others, just as you are.
You may be surprised at what a memorable holiday this will be.
Be like Snoopy! Bring what you have, who you are, and serve it up!
