We all have seasons in life when we feel stuck in that place called

“THE SPACE IN BETWEEN.”

It’s where I am currently residing, not by choice, but by design.  God’s design.

Life delivers everything so very quickly and concisely packaged these days, and usually on our time frame.  I blame the Happy Meal.  My kids all loved them, but I loved them more.  A quick, fast meal, complete WITH A TOY that I didn’t have to pick out and one they always loved!  And If I didn’t want to go IN the restaurant (heaven’s sake!) then I could stay in my car, get their food, drink, and toy and my little ones were happy for the rest of the way home.

Happy Meal’s spoiled me, and they have spoiled you too.  We all want fast, now, quick, packaged conveniently, and A TOY! But life is not AT ALL like that!

It’s the space in between that makes me even more aware that I long for a Happy Meal in my life, just a quick fix, a fast resolve, and of course, in my time frame.

THE SPACE IN BETWEEN looks differently for all of us….
waiting on that new job,
longing for the perfect soul-mate,
holding out for the right house or car or couch,
looking out the front window for the wayward teen to pull in the driveway,
wanting the phone to ring one more time,
wishing for the change of heart in our spouse,
holding our breath for the doctor’s report……..

The list goes on, and on, and on, and on.  But it all boils down to one thing: WHAT ARE YOU DOING DURING YOUR SPACE IN BETWEEN?

Most of us fret, cry, scream, worry, pace, zone out, fear, freeze, stop.  I know I do.

Here’s what I want to do during my space in between….

WAIT.
HOPE.
TRUST.

And here’s why.

Isaiah 40:27-31
The Message Bible

Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
    or, whine, Israel, saying,
“God has lost track of me.
He doesn’t care what happens to me”?
Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening?
God doesn’t come and go. God lasts.
He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything, inside and out.
He energizes those who get tired,
    gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don’t get tired,
they walk and don’t lag behind.

So during your SPACE IN BETWEEN, try this with me. Wait, hope, trust.
